Overview

Parents work in partnership with teachers and their child to provide, support, and nurture a learning environment at home, in the community, and at the Learning Centre.

Parent roles and responsibilities include:

  • Participation in initial interview to develop an Individual Learning Plan (ILP)
  • Completion of required activation activities in September
  • Attend portfolio conferences, 3 times a year
  • Ensure that teachers are provided with sufficient student work for assessment and evaluation purposes, development and presentation of student portfolio 3 times a year
  • Maintaining regular contact with teacher – averaging once a week – email, phone, direct contact
  • Active, daily involvement in your child’s learning
  • Create appropriate learning environment in the home
  • Complete Parent Observation forms

Highlights at Home Learners Program

Teachers are back at work on Tuesday, September 7th.
Learning offerings in the fall will include face-to-face activities on Tuesdays and Thursdays, online workshops for students and parents, personalized learning plans, access to learning resources, and thematic family projects. more

Dear Parents/Guardians,
I am providing you another quick update to let you know how much we appreciate your flexibility and adaptability, while we work with your children remotely and online. Many of your children have started to participate in remote classrooms through Google and Microsoft Teams. This has allowed us to continue the rich and meaningful learning that has always been a feature of the Home Learners Program at Hume Park. more
